Hello Brian,
As you know, your grandmother was a widow when she married your grandfather in 1926. Her first husband's name was Nikodem Cyprian Krzyszkowski. They married on November 5th, 1913. I found no children born in Milowice / Czeladź where grandmother lived and they married. But I finally found Nicodemus' birth record. He was born on September 7th, 1890 in Postaszowice parish Niegowa. In parish Niegowa, their daughter Wanda was born on December 25th, 1915. She married Marian Sokół in 1938. She died on March 4th, 1996. Attached is a picture of the tombstone. The couple also had a son Wacław born in 1918, but he died as a child in 1920. Stefania moved back to Milowice around 1919-1920. On October 29th, 1920 in Milowice parish Czeladz, the daughter Henryka was born. She married Alfred Nowicki in Opole. Henryka died on March 7th, 1980 in Opole.
Nikodem Cyprian Krzyszkowski died at the age of 31, on May 25th, 1922 in Milowice parish Czeladź.

After chatting with my father, he explained that my grandmother Stefania left her two daughters with her sister when she came to Canada in 1931. Supposedly one of my grandmothers brothers or uncles immigrated to the United States. I’d love to be able to track her family down.

According to my research, I can't find any brothers of your grandmother. She had 4 sisters: Pelagia, Pelagia, Berta, Marianna. One died as a child. Then it must be the brothers of her mother or father who went to the US.

Thanks as always Barb, would she have two sisters with the same name? Or they used it again for the next daughter?

Your grandmother was the oldest of all the siblings. Yes, two girls got the same name. Pelagia born 1898, died the same year. Her sister Pelagia was born in 1900. Actually Pelagia 1898 was registered as Wladyslaw, but this was corrected later.

In digging deeper and looking at the few documents I have, i'm trying to get an accurate spelling of my grandmother Stafania's last name. It appears four times, and each looks different. She was a widow, her first married name looks like Kryskowska (on the bottom sample) and her maiden name anywhere between
Jochemczyk, Jochymozyk, Jochymezyk, Jochemeryków or Jochymoryk
Anyone want to venture a guess?

Hello,
Most often in the documents I have seen, surnames are written as Jochymczyk. A few times Jochemczyk.
