Zenon is currently on the way with our new guest and, as it often is, some amazing things are happening...
Read Janina's story on our blog: http://blog.polishorigins.com/2013/09/18/my-new-name-is-janina-kruk/.

"My aunt Betty Krukowski and I had a bet regarding our surname. She thought it was Kruk and I thought it was Krukowski. Sadly my aunt passed away in May but I know was looking down with the smile knowing she was right, knowing she won the bet..."

And wait for more, because there should be some more updates from the trip soon...

Janina is continuing to write for you. See her story from the day 2:
http://blog.polishorigins.com/2013/09/19/my-new-name-is-janina-kruk-day-2/

"After lunch we traveled back to Brzezno-Kolonia where we met Kamila, wife of Kazimierz, other of son of Marianna Kruk. Kamila provided with us of the WWII history in the village. She stated they were spared of extreme devastation but remembered the planes and one the bombs had been dropped in the farm fields. She also recalls German soldiers staying in their farm buildings."

Janina is still touring in Poland with Zenon and she keeps writing. Here is her report from the day 3: http://blog.polishorigins.com/2013/09/20/my-new-name-is-janina-kruk-day-3/

"...Then we were off to Ostroleka for Halina, wife of Tadeusz. Halina was daughter-in-law of Marianna Kruk who wrote letters on behalf of her. Halina during her 20s would write letters for Marianna, who was illiterate. (...) Halina was so excited as were we to meet for the first time. We had a copy of the letter (see an extract above) which brought great joy to her. She was amazed that after 55 years the letter that she wrote she was reading again. An unbelievable moment."

We invite you to read about the day 4 of Janina's journey in Poland: http://blog.polishorigins.com/2013/09/23/my-new-name-is-janina-kruk-day-4/

"It was a joyous experience to see the parish my family, great-grandfather and grandfather attended. The priest brought the church chronicle which I wrote a few words in memory of my ancestor."

Our guest, Janina keeps posting on our blog. We invite you to read her impressions from the visit in Treblinka: http://blog.polishorigins.com/2013/09/25/my-new-name-is-janina-kruk-day-5-treblinka-concentration-camp/

"As I continued into the camp I saw the gravel pits were men worked in extreme heat, extreme cold and every temperature you can imagine. Again, to see the site I was able to visualize what I read in the book. However, it is incomprehensible to truly understand what it was like to be a prisoner..."

Lithuania for the first time. Janina's journey is full of surprises! Read the story from day 6: http://blog.polishorigins.com/2013/09/27/my-new-name-is-janina-kruk-day-6-lithuania-for-the-first-time/

"...Today we were driving to Wizajny to begin the search for my Grandmother Murwaska living relatives (...). We passed through Wizajny the village were Stefania and Kamila, my grandmother’s sisters lived. From the letters we knew my Great Grandmother lived a little past Wizajny which at that time, after WWII, was in Soviet Union. Today this area is Lithuania. We drove approximately 15 minutes and crossed the border into Lithuania. It was exciting for me to be in another country..."

"An incredible trip to my grandmother’s land".

“Before WWII the whole area was within Poland and Bokszyszki belonged to the Wizajny parish. And now the border split family. They even weren’t aware of fate of each other for many years after war because letters couldn’t go through the new border! From one of the letters written to my aunt in Cleveland it is stated that Stefania sometimes could see the smoke from the chimney of her parents home possibly indicating that there were still alive. Today Bokszyszki is no longer on the map. Gone…”

The 7th part of Janina's story on our blog is published. We invite you to read it here: http://blog.polishorigins.com/2013/09/30/my-new-name-is-janina-kruk-day-7/.

Eighth part of the “My new name is Janina Kruk” blog was published today. See what happened after the stunning day of meeting relatives in Poland and Lithuania! The last part will be published tomorrow.

We are sorry for the delay in publishing these two remaining parts but we had an extremely busy time during the last few weeks, including PO Galicia Tour and few Genealogy and Tourist Tours at a time. We will write about it more in our blog (and here) soon.
