Post subject: Marriage Records
Hello! I'm trying to find the marriage records for my ancestor Channa/Hanna Fuks (born Zysman in 1910) and her husband Fiskel/Fischel Fuks (born in 1911). I am not sure where they got married, but both were Jewish and lived in Lodz. Would appreciate any assistance!

Hi,
Hello,
Were they born exactly in 1910 and 1911? Do you know where they were born? Do you know when and where their first child was born?
Regards,
-Barb

I have Fiskel’s birth record which states May 19, 1911 in Rzgow. I don’t have Hanna’s birth record, so I’m unsure which part of Lodz she was born in. Her passport/DP card say she was born August 05, 1910.
Their first child was born in 1941 in Arkhangelsk, Russia in a DP camp. Thanks!

Hi Trish,
It appears that it is Chana and Fischel, his ancestors. I didn't find anything in Lodz. They moved a lot, but Arkhangelsk is mentioned. They were Jews, and Lodz was not a safe place to live in WW2.

Hi Barb,
I'm glad to know I am on the right track. Now we know the parents' names of Chana and Fischel. Plus we know the correct birth dates for them. I'll see if I can find something else on them.
Regards,
Trish

Then it is also confirmed. We were told that he was born in Rzgow.
Unfortunately, no wedding recorders will be available. Although they lived in Lodz for a period, they could marry anywhere.

Hi Barb! Thanks these are Hana, Fishel and their two kids.
Any idea how to find the marriage record? I contacted the Lodz office and they told me as a non-native, my only option (if there are no online scans) was to send a letter or have someone in the country request it for me.

Hi,
I have looked at the documents I have found. The family lived in different places. All of Fischel's siblings were born in the city of Łódź, but not his parents. Mother was born in Rawa, and father in Rzgow. Fischel and Hana got married sometime between 1930-1941, and I strongly believe that this happened in Łódź. If you wish, I can write an email to the State Archives in Łódź and ask if they can check the wedding register for the Jewish community.
Did the family later move to Palestine?
-Barb
