Hello, I was not sure exactly where I should put this inquiry, but it is about research.
I found records for Troki parish on the site wastan.pl/. They were in Russian. Then I was told that I need to download a djvu viewer to translate them, but that didn't work. There is also something called look.it (like look it up).

Has anyone had experience with wastan.pl/ or djvu viewer or look.it? This is all strange and new to me. Also, any suggestions on how or what I can do with the Russian records I found?

Thank you, Trishsa : )

Gilberto, yes I know about the Russian translation here, but there are so many records and I can't tell which ones are relevant to my family. I will go back and check them again and refresh my memory. Thank you, Trish : )

djvu is not a translater, but as it says a viewer:

Quote:
DjVu Viewer is a small .djvu file reader, enables you to open and view DjVu format files, easily zoom in and zoom out. This software can generate the thumbnails of all image pages, allow you to quickly browse. And, you can export the images to other format image files, such as JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF and BMP formats, program supports batch conversion, you can convert all images at once.

I use it for a number of programs, most frequently for:

Słownik Geograficzny
Królestwa Polskiego
i innych krajów słowiańskich
Wydanie elektroniczne DjVuLibre

For a quick rough translation of printed Russian, use Google Translater.

Thank you Henryk,

I have used Google to translate printed Russian, but the files I saw were in cerilic (sp)(or written) Russian. I am learning new things every day, so maybe I will download the programs again and give it another try.

Your explanation of the djvu viewer was very helpful, even though I don't understand all that computer talk! : ) As I said--learning new things every day.

Henryk,

I downloaded the djvu viewer, but it saves documents to a djvu file. My AdobeX Reader cannot open the file, therefore I cannot attach it here to be translated. Do I need to download another program to open the djvu file? I am at my wits end.

Thank you, Trishsa
