Post subject: Translation of note on back of picture
Can someone help me with the translation of the note on the back of a photograph. The front of the photograph shows Michael Waclawek and his wife Bronislawa/Bernice Lewkowski and an unidentified third person who looks like a member of a religious community. I believe the photograph was taken at their 50th wedding anniversary and includes information about their place of birth and parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kristine,
The note on the back of the picture contains much the same information as is found in the marriage record from St. Andrew's. One exception is that the maiden name of Bronislawa's mother Wiktoria is different. Here it is Rafalek/Rafalik (z Rafalkow) and in the marriage record it is Zarzecka. It looks like the note was written by Michal/Michael.
Here is a translation: Michal/Michael and Bronislawa/Bernice Waclawek: A memento of our wedding July 25, 1911 (to) July 25, 1961. Please pray for the repose of the soul of Bronislawa Waclawek, your mother who died on August 14, 1963 at the age of 71 years (on Her birthday) April 29, 1963. She came from Poland from the village of Boguszewo in the powiat of Bialystok from the Lewkowski family, born of her mother Wiktoria nee Rafalek/Rafalik and of her father Franciszek Lewkowski. Michal Waclawek was born in Poland in the village of Broszkowice in the powiat of Oswiecim of his father Jan and his mother Regina nee Bozek from the village of Gozof. Poland.
It would seem that the more reliable maiden name for Bronislawa's mother should be the name recorded in the marriage record since the source of that information would have been Bronislawa. Since Michal & Bronislawa were from two different areas of Poland and married in Cal City, Michal most likely never met her parents and she probably never met his parents. Anyway, that is my opinion , for what it is worth.

Thank you Dave. Any idea what this village of Gozof is? Gorzow perhaps? Although that is nowhere near Broszkowice (about 5 hours away) which seems unlikely. Poznowice is a little closer but still an hour away.
