A kind man, stranger to me, contacted me through PolishOrigins msg. He had copies of Rozdziele records from LDS microfilm and shared them with me using Google Drive. I just started going through them and already found my grandmother's and her brother's births, also my aunt's birth from when she returned to Poland to visit her mother. This is my first experience with Google Drive and I've tried to save the pages elsewhere without success so I could post one here. I have to ask my questions without attaching the file because I just can't. I think I'd have to share using Google Drive. Not much in these records -- name of child born, where, parents names and date of birth seems to be all.
Anyway, my questions. Now I know my grandmother's father's first name -- kind of. It looks like Ladislai -- is that correct spelling? I know these records use "formal" spelling but I'm not familiar with that name at all. Other question concerns my surname and I don't know that anyone can help with that. Grandparents always used "Kempa". Immigration records show "Kempa". But my aunt's birth record from that visit to Poland says "Kepa". I haven't found any other Kempa or Kepa in those records yet but I've just started looking. Grandma was from Rozdziele but I don't know if grandpa was -- he used to say he was born "near Krakow" and that's it. I might only have luck with the Wolak family in these records.

The word "kępa" means more or less ait or holm or hillock in English. It's a popular name in Polish, in both versions Kempa and Kępa (spelling is almost the same, for a generic word the correct orthography is kępa)

Concerning Google Drive, they do everything to keep you inside, but depending on the file - text, jpeg, excel, etc. - you can sometimes copy the content and save it in corresponding application on your PC (I do it for Excel).

Thank you for your help, Elzbieta. I'm confused about the surname because nobody in the family (post-immigration) ever used or even mentioned "Kepa" instead of "Kempa". Maybe immigration officials "liked" Kempa more? As for where my grandfather's from, I can't say other than near Krakow, only know it was a small village, too but must have been very close to Rozdziele for him to have known my grandmother and married her. I found Rozdziele cited as my grandmother's mother's home when grandma returned to Poland for a visit without my grandfather and their 2nd child was born there during that visit. On immigration records, Zegocina was what grandfather stated as the place he was coming from/his home (same for grandma then though). So quite possibly he wasn't born in Rozdziele. Hopefully, I find more in those LDS files! I find that hard work, Google Driving

The probability your ancestors were Kempa vs Kępa is almost the same if you consider today's distribution of these names in Poland, so do not worry about it.
If your ancestor's name was Kępa, with e cedilla, the immigration officer would not spell it as in Poland, but Kepa.
Re: geography. Żegocina is 3.5 km distant from Rozdziele, 2 miles, very close.
