I am trying to find my great-grandmother's maiden name
She was married to Frank Kuczynski in 1887,St. Adalbert's Church in Buffalo, NY.
The marriage certificate states that her maiden name was Veronica Michalska, but all my relatives say it was Wadner, but have no,towns, other names or other information. Just that she was from Germany We both have the same wedding pictures,so I know it's the same person.they say she was from Prussia.
Do you know why she might change her last name ?
I have really hit a brick wall.

If anyone knows the Wadner name, please contact me at [email protected]

Thank you very much.

Deidre,

I don't have any info about the Wadner surname but do have a suggestion for a research strategy which may help. The records for St. Adalbert Basilica in Buffalo, N.Y. are on LDS film 1292862. The film contains birth/baptism (1889-1918), marriage (1887-1910) and death (1889-1907) records for that parish. I researched descendants of my 3rd great grandparents who settled there and the birth and the marriage records almost always contain the place of origin of the parents in baptismal records and of the bride and groom in marriage records. The marriage records also contain the names of the parents of the bride and the groom. It may be worth your while to rent the film and try to trace the trail using those records as a starting point. The records are not online and thus the necessity of renting the film. The attachment is a part of the entries in the baptismal record for 1904 to give you of the type of data found in the entries.

Wishing you success,

Dave
