I am trying to research my ancesters in Poland during the19th century. Searching a data base using "Pyde" brings up all kinds of variations; Pyd, Pydde, Pede, Peda, Pitt, just to name a few. Which variations of the name are most closely related to the name? I know my ancestors are of German origin. Anyone know where the name variates from and which vairations I should be focused on? Thank you for your help _________________ Richard Pyde
Pyde is from Polish (archaism or regional expression, nowadays this word is not being used) pyda - „whip”
In 2002 there were only 8 individuals using the surname Pyde living in Poland. Detailed map of the surname distribution can be found here: https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Pyde
