Hello,

I have used the web-site "biblioteka kresowa" for a long time, but can not get onto it lately. Does anyone know what they have changed their address to? I know it is out there. I used it for church record books in Trakai, Lithuania.

Thanks for any help you can give me!!

I do not have the web address I supplied before, but the above seems to be the same. The Troki links work for me.

Trisha,

Google was my friend:

1. http://genealodzy.pl/PNphpBB2-printview-t-1464-start-15.phtml
Zmiana adresu : Biblioteka Kresowa, Potyczek z Genealogią http://kresy.genealodzy.pl/ (moderacja - 25.10.2014 m.j.n)
// change of address on 25 October 2014, two weeks ago!

Thank you Henryk and Elzbieta! I did find it, but now I cannot open the Troki record books. I get a message saying "you can't open the application djvu plugin host because PowerPC applications are no longer supported".

Any ideas what that means? Or should I call a computer tech? I am on a new computer, a mac.

Try loading a mac compatible djvu plugin:
https://www.cuminas.jp/downloads/download/?pid=1
Three versions. Select in the box saying ver 6.1.4

I beat Elzbieta by two minutes!

Trisha,

Your new computer is Mac, and I understand djvu plugin on Polish site is for PC.
I see on the djvu site
http://djvu.org/links/
that they have a version for Mac too.
It could be that click-clik and it installs well. I do not know. Anybody here with Mac using djvu?

Best,
Elzbieta

And for the second time in a row! Each time by two minutes! Hats off.

So, that is why I got such fast answers to my questions---you have a race going on! Fun! : )
I will double check on my djvu downloads, maybe I have the wrong ones. I will let you know when I figure it out.

Henryk and Elzbieta,

I have done everything I can think of, but still can't view the records. My husband connected the old Windows computer up in the basement, and I can still open the djvu records on that computer--thank goodness.

Some day when I am comfortable with this Mac, I will try again, but right now it is time for some CHOCOLATE!!

Thank you both,

Elzbieta and Henryk,

I just want to update you both on my progress with DJVU. I finally downloaded and installed DJVU on my Mac desktop and Windows laptop. Either the Biblioteka site has changed or it is the way the new computers work with the site, but it is not as friendly anymore. Thank heaven, I still have Biblioteka on my old Windows computer. I am trying to get as much info off of the site now, before something else happens.

If anyone has trouble with the new Biblioteka site, I will be glad to help as long as my old computer holds up!

Again, thank you for your help.

Trish,

That is precious information saving time, many thanks (and CHOCOLATE !).

My perception was that the DJVU plugin from Polish website was a lightweight adapted in Poland. I have it working on my old Windows XP. But I did not yet try to install any DJVU plugin on my Windows 7, and your experience makes me cautious.

DJVU became DéJà-VU, more heavy, trying to do many things, and losing its main advantage.

Best,
Elzbieta

DJVU works good on my old Windows 7.

It does not work well on my husbands new Windows 8.

All very confusing and time consuming.
