Hallo,

my name is Magdalena Lukanus (Łukanus) i`m living in germany born in bydgoszcz.

we immigrated in 1988 to Germany. I`m doing some research on my grandfather Ignacy Łukanus who`s been married to Urzula Łukanus. they had a child named Leszek Andrej Łukanus born 26 August 1960 in bydgoszcz. Ignacy divorced his wife and went to the the us while his son was a little kid, and lost all of contact to him. my father died in 2003 at age of 42 and so i cant get more informations than that about his dad. so im trying to find something out in this forum and hope somone can get me any informations about this family tree and about Ignacy Łukanus.

Hello,
First of all, you should ask for marriage record of your grandparents in civil registry office (USC) in Bydgoszcz, some time before 1960. You may also check for the same in a local church (there should be a few in Bydgoszcz perhaps). These dcuments should give you birth dates and birthplaces of your grandparents as well as their parents' names. Łukaniec family is most propably from douth of Poland (area around Nowy Targ).
One more link you may follow is a profile of Ignacy Jerzy Łukanus on MyHeritage (http://www.myheritage.com/research/collection-1/myheritage-family-trees?s=582063&itemId=176582152-4-20&action=showRecord). This Ignacy was born on Jan 13 1939 and died on Dec 6 1989 in Bydgoszcz. He was married to Jaworska and had one son. There is some more information so if they agree with what you have you may contact the person managing this profile. If this is the right person he either never emigrated to US or did emigrated but came back to Pland before his death.
