HI:

I am doing my family tree and cannot find any info on my great grandfather ...it is my understanding from faamily that his surname was Wolnik...of course once over in America it changed to Volnick. Does anyone have any info on this surname?

Thank you

Leslie Volnick

Here's a link to the Moikrewni map of the distribution in Poland of the surname Wolnick https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Wolnik The red locations have the most people with that name. You can mouse over each red and see what location it is or scroll down past the map to see the text with the top 10 locations for the name Wolnick. I'm sure others will speak to the etymology of the name/word.

Do you know when he came or where he settled in the US? ~PL

Leslie,
I have found a Joh. Wolnik who arrived in 1896, born in 1872. From Austria to Syracuse.
