Post subject: Smolice?
I was wondering if anyone had any information on the town of Smolice. It is currently, according to http://www.kartenmeister.com, in the province of Wielkopolskie. Smolice was in the Prussian county of Gostyn and the German province of Posen. I have seach for Smolice at the Polish State Archives website, but none of the records have digital copies. I am searching for my Chachula ancestors that immigrated from there in 1913.

Hi,
That Jakob Hahula arriving at Ellis in 1913 lists his place as Smolice, Austria (Galicia).
This is the place:
Smolice
614 osoby
woj. małopolskie
pow. oświęcimski
gmina Zator
There is, indeed, a Smolice in wielkopolskie.

Thanks so much for your help, Gilberto. So, I should be searching for records from Austria or since this is in Poland now, should I search for records in Poland? Sorry for my ignorance.
