Does anyone know of this place, or have any information about it. On my Grandfathers marriage certificate it says he is from here, last name Adach. I know the rural village is now located in Ukraine but was in eastern Poland during the second polish republic. Any Help?

thanks,

Hi,

Just a brief search, but it seems to me there is a Kuchocka and a Kuchecka, both in now Ukraine.

WOW! Thank you, lots of information. I have a couple questions, What does Lubieszow refer to? an area in Ukraine, where Kuchocka Wola used to be? Also, what does Niewirkow refer to, the parish within Nowy Pruszyn? Some of this I was aware of but much of it is new? Is there any subsequent information about Kuchocka Wola? perhaps a parish I could get marriage records from?

Thank you again!

Re: What does Lubieszow refer to? an area in Ukraine, where Kuchocka Wola used to be?

Yes. Your US record written by Polish priest says "in Kuchocka Wola, Lubieszów, Poland"
Kuchocka Wola (small place), in Lubieszow area (bigger).

Re: what does Niewirkow refer to, the parish within Nowy Pruszyn?

Yes. Your US record written by Polish priest says "in Nowy Pruszyn, Równe, Poland"
Nowy Pruszyn (small place), in Równe area (bigger).
But it is not easy to find Nowy Pruszyn, eventually I could localise it in parish Niewirków, on Wolyn website.

Please bear in mind that many villages in Kresy (Eastern parts of Poland, pre WWII) had their names changed, not only Cyrillic script, but totaly changed, and as far as I know (from French geo-historians) there is no comprehensive list of historical toponyms over time in Europe.

Finding records in today Ukraine is another item, probably the best thing would be to try to find information on websites like Wolyn.

If you look on Polish Genealogical Society website search engine:
http://www.geneszukacz.genealodzy.pl/
you will note where Polish records are easy to find (and to make indexes of it), and where not.
The last 4 lines include very few records from today Ukraine.

Bonne chance!
Elzbieta
