Hi,
https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zabreczany -- today Belarus. It is said in Polish wiki, that Zabreczany was part to gmina Balla Wielka, in voivodship Bialystok.
Then https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gmina_Balla_Wielka indicates "Wsie" villages belonging to it. It's complicated, but in short powiat Augustowski (of either gubernia Suwalki, or voivodship Bialystok). After reading here and there, I arrived at Sopoćkinie https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sopo%C4%87kinie in the bottom all villages are here.
Dekanat Sopoćkinie https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dekanat_Sopo%C4%87kinie
Then parish:
https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parafia_Wniebowzi%C4%99cia_Naj%C5%9Bwi%C4%99tszej_Maryi_Panny_i_%C5%9Bw._Jozafata_Kuncewicza_w_Sopo%C4%87kiniach
On the parish page: "Od 1925 parafia należała do diecezji łomżyńskiej." - since 1925 parish was part to diocesis Lomza. Dead end.
https://szukajwarchiwach.pl/ has an entry Balla Wielka, nothing on line with the only exception year 1878, German records from Szczytno = Ortelsburg. Nothing of interest, Dead end.
Search for "Sopoćkinie parish" have an entry Church records, 1896-1914. (Microform, 1994) [WorldCat.org] http://www.worldcat.org/title/church-records-1896-1914/oclc/866165167
In Notes: Microfilm of original at Lithuanian State Historical Archive, Vilnius.
Orthodox Church records and civil registration books (births, marriages, and deaths) for Warsaw Consistory parishes of the Suvalki province, Russia. Localities include Labno (Łabno), Golynka (Hołynka), Sapotskin or Sopotskin (Sopoćkinie), and Ballya Tserkovnaya (Balla Kościelna or Ballaya Sol'naya), now in Belarus; and Rachki (Raczki) and Rigalovka (Rygałowlka), now in Poland.
That's all I could find. I am sorry, looks complicated.

Post subject: Zabreczany my grandfather
Hello Elzbieta
I am trying to find out where my grandfather Andrew Kanon or Konon, came from so I can obtain his birth record/baptismal. Andrew Kanon came through Ellis Island when he was three years old in 1901, he was with his mother Josephine (Josefa) Kurowska and they came from Suwałki, they were going to Stefan Kanon I believe was his father. Grandfather would tell my mother that he came from Suwałki Gubernia, my father worked with him in the mines and my father would just say he came from a village that was now inside Russia about 10 miles from the Polish Russian border after World War II. Andrew Kanon's uncle I believe was John (Jan) Kanon on his naturalization came from Zabreczany Poland.

Zabreczany - village in Hrodna district Hrodna region of the Republic of Belarus
Google the archives for Belarus. Get their address and write to them in English. They have translators. They'll write to you. I don't recall if they have an email address. Probably do. I've never writen to them, but I know others who have had success with their help. My family is from inside today's Poland. Belarus is still a Communist country.

Yes, still communist. So, use caution.
Some years back, I wrote to a Belarus archive with the names I was looking for. Two weeks later I received a tiny envelope with a Belarus stamp and return address. It was about a 3 x 2 inch tiny. A tissue paper thin letter asked for $300 to be sent to a name and address that had no relationship to the archive I wrote to. Nothing was explained as to what they would do for me, it was just a request for payment, and where to send it..
Of course I didn't. I did write to a number of genealogy email lists and blogs, and did get cautioned that they still lived with the soviet mentality.
I would welcome finding a real genealogist that could find records of the 1800's and early 1900's..
Good luck,
Bob K.

I know of one person that receive the proper letter from the archives and did receive the record. There is more hope today that it will make it's destination, and that an honest employee will reply. They don't ask for checks or cash.
