Attached is an image of ship manifest that we believe lists our grandfather and mother and siblings, lines 15-20 (surname Lukaszewicz.)

The town of origin appears to be "Rencai" but we've been unable to locate that on maps. Additional clues from naturalization papers indicate Warsaw and some birth records from Marki which is just NE of Warsaw.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

Christine Stanley

Hi,

In that area I can only think of Ręczaj (Mszcznow),plenty of Lukaszewicz and Lukasiewicz, though not yours.

Gilberto-
That does seem like a good possibility! Is it pretty close phonetically? We had already guessed that it might be e with ogonek instead of en.

I didn't realize what those notations were so thank you for the information! Actually Wladislaw naturalized too and his were the papers we found which led us to this ship manifest. Now we have some more leads!

Just to clarify - I believe child #3 on the manifest is female - Kazimierza, not Kazimierz, as the F for Wladsylawa above has a ditto mark for Kaimeirz(a) indicating Female again ~PL
