Welcome Lisa Smile,

Osiec;- Osiecki from Polish osiekać- „to cut down”. or archaic osiek - „fortification made by cutting and arranging trees”.

In 2002 there were 2191 people bearing the surname Osiecki living in Poland. Detailed map can be found here https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Osiecki .

In 19th century there were 7 noble Osiecki families living in Poland. There was also well-known Polish poet, lyricist, and journalist Agnieszka Osiecka, whose songs and are still very often performed by different Polish artists (more about Agnieszka Osiecka: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnieszka_Osiecka )

Thank you for welcoming me!

Osiecki has an interesting name meaning. Could it be that the family at some point in time were wood workers or had some type of occupation with trees?

In the old times, the first fathers of Osiecki clan, most probably had something to do with this kind of work...
