Hi,

- There are around 3116 people with that surname today living in Poland:

https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Wilczak

- Here the archives for your researches:

http://www.geneszukacz.genealodzy.pl/index.php?search_lastname=Wilczak&from_date=&to_date=&rpp1=&bdm=&url1=&w=&lang=pol&op=se

It really depends where you have to research, sometimes the same surname have been used by different people in different Counties (especially for common surnames).
However the area around Warsaw is the more dense.

- Moreover, Wilczak in polish means Wolf dog, so it is probably a very ancient surname/nickname.

- But, Wilczak is also a town in the south of Poland:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilczak

So it could be a toponymic surname, quiet common all over Europe.

---

If you have other details about your family it'll surely help.

thank you.

I have been stuck for many years now.

I know my great great grandfather was Jan Wilczak 1879-1945 and great great grandmother was Mary Koziol 1886-1956
John (Jan) was born June 24th in I believe Lipinki southeast Poland used to be Galacia. I know Jan changed our last name from Wilczak to Vilchock
and they settled in Pennsylvania.

I have all the information about my relatives in the USA from Jan and Mary down, but have NOTHING on their parents or brothers or sisters.

You seem very helpful and knowledgeable, can you please help me?

Actually I'm not very familiar with the Archives from the Małopolskie Area (Krakow).
But on the Polish State Archives I found these archives, which should be the ones for you.
Unfortunately they haven't yet uploaded any documents. If you want them as soon as possible you should contact the Archive that manages the Lipinki certificates. Which I think is Krakow.

http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/search?q=lipinki%20XARCHro%3A29&order=

A correction, this is the correct Metriky DB for Wilczak:

http://www.geneszukacz.genealodzy.pl/index.php?search_lastname=wilczak&from_date=&to_date=&exac=1&rpp1=&bdm=&url1=&w=&lang=pol&op=se

If you also research for Kozioł there are many families in the Krakow Area.

However, specifically for Lipinki I haven't found anything, for now.

Why don't you try to contact them directly? I'm sure they will somehow help you.
