I am trying to work out what a village called "Krasseminsk" is called today and where exactly it is.

From a 1903 translation of Polish or Russian language documents, written in 1880, there is a mention of "Krasseminsk rural public primary school..." and is signed "Merkish, teacher, village of Krassenin".

Presumably Krasseminsk is the Russian name for Krassenin? I have assumed that "Krassenin" is "Krasienin" near Lublin, but I am now having second thoughts.

If anyone can help, I'd be most grateful.

Helena

Helena,

Maybe Majdan-Krasieninski, two miles below Krasienin.

Thanks Magroski. Do you think that the "-minsk" part suggests -Krasieninski rather than -Krasienin?

I think the best way to clarify this would be upload the document to the Russian records translation topic on this forum.
