I've been searching for one person (birth and marriage) for three days without finding anything. I have tried all these sites:

http://www.basia.famula.pl/en/

http://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/

http://poznan-project.psnc.pl/

http://regestry.lubgens.eu/

http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/

(I can't make that last one give me any family info, only stuff about towns, I think).

Please, can anyone share with me any other sites like these that I don't know about?

(Oh, and just in case anyone has any bright idea, the person I am searching for is Emilia Ulatowska, born about 1835. Father possibly Henryk. Mother possibly has surname Czaplicka. No idea about location. I know of her through her death record and her son's birth record.)

Thanks in advance.

Wow Gilberto, I don't know what to say! Three days of searching and I could not find it. How did you get there so quickly? Thank you so much!

I have found and snipped the record, now I need to get it translated.... so excited!

Edited to add: that isn't her Sad This one is born 1852 (if I read it correctly) but my lady was born in the 1830s. Her son's birth certificate states that she was 29 years old in 1865.

Her son was born in Kolo in 1865. She died in 1868 in Sompolno. This is all documented.

It seems incredible that the Emilia you found has parents with exactly the same surnames as the Emilia I am looking for.

Thanks for those links!

Seweryn Klosowski? If so her mother was Emilia Walowski, not Ulatowski.

Over the years, various sources and different translators (including Ryszard, on this forum) have always rendered the name as Ulatowska. I can see why you think it looks like Walowski, though!

I can see why the indexer did that. But everyone else says it's Ulatowska.

If it is Walowska, then where is the birth and marriage records for her, I wonder?

Comparing the letter W in other records of the same page I agree it is Ulatowska.
Does her death record mention her parents names?
Have you already looked for her marriage in Kolo from 1865 backwards?
Or for Seweryn siblings?

Additional question:
You say she died in Sompolno. That is wielkopolskie. The year 1868 is not available online.
Her death record you posted for translation in Russian Records Translation topic seems to be from somewhere in lubelskie. Could you clarify?

Hi Gilberto

Sorry, I was absolutely exhausted an have eyestrain. It's Serokomla not Sompolo.

Emilia's husband married again in 1870 and his marriage record states:

"Completed in the village of Krasienin on 20 February, 1870... was the religious marital union between ANTONI KŁOSOWSKI, 35, widower of Emilia nee Ulatowska, who died on 9/21 November, 1868 in Wólka, Serokomla parish..."

I looked it up on a map.

I am waiting in a queue for death record translation.

He had no siblings as far as I know.

I spent at least 50 hours looking for the marriage.

Many thanks.

How can you search a person's name on that site? I have visited the site dozens of times and never found a way to search. Please help.

Helena,
You can't search for a person's name: you search for a place name instead.
The link above display results like these:
Akta urodzen, urodzenia = birth records
Akta malzenstwa, slubu = marriage records
Akta zgonow = death records

Columns on the right side display the year and the number of scanned images, if available.
By clicking on akta , or year, number you will be redirected to another page.
Click on Digital copies and select the number of records per page (15 to 100)
The images are displayed like on a LDS microfilm.
Usually ordered: births > birth index; marriages > marriage index; deaths > indexes.
Click on the image you want to view.
Click on the icon next to a Z on the bottom of the page, right side, to enlarge the image.
Use the Tools to zoom in or out. You can download the image and save it to your computer.

If you need additional information, just ask.

Thank you Gilberto.

I think you are saying that a person must read every scan to look for the name of the person they are searching for. If that is the case, it would be impossible, especially if the person cannot speak Polish or Russian (or both).

You only have to read every scan if there is no indexes at all. The indexes usually display the names in alphabetical order by surname. Rarely by name, so you have to pay attention when looking at it. Once you find the index you can see the number of the record and/or the number of the page of its location. How to recognize the image containing an index? Birth records are usually displayed in 2 for page (4 in each image); marriages in 1 for page (2 in each image) and death in 3 or 4 for page (6 or 8 in each image). So if you are looking at a scan that doesn't fit this pattern, then that must be an index page. I know it is hard in the beginning. It took me a lot of time to find out how to get the best of it.

P.S. Records from June 1868 are written in russian. Check http://forum.polishorigins.com/viewtopic.php?t=2250&highlight=how+identify+surnames
