Geneteka links to a FamilySearch catalogue containing the 1824 marriage record of my 5x great-grandparents Józef Larenta and Barbara z d. Bieńk.

However, as there are 968 pages that aren’t indexed, is there any simple way to find the correct page I’m looking for?

Hi Charlie,

I see Barb has already solved it for you by finding the record, but I would like to add my own contribution to your question. If you encounter this type of problem again, here is a technique you can use to narrow down those 968 pages of unindexed images to a manageable search.

When you follow the link from Geneteka to FamilySearch, you find that you are being directed to Film Number 007769246. Every film is divided into parts called "items," and the key is to know which item you need to look at.

Go to the FamilySearch tab at the top of the page labelled "search" and click on that. From their drop-down menu, tell it you want to search the "catalog." Its default is for you to search for "place" but if you click on "film/fiche/image group number" then you can enter "007769246" in the search box.

This gets you to this screen:
https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/results?q.filmNumber=007769246

So there are two groups of records there that include this film number. If you click on the first one, the records from 1808-1905, it shows you that there are births from 1808-1835 there, but births is not what you want. Notice that these are Items 2 through 6 on that film, so at least you know you don't have to look at those parts of the film. So you now try the second set of records, from 1739-1825. Bingo! It shows marriages for 1803-1825 and this is what you want. It specifies that those records are in Item 1 of that film number. Since Item 1 ends at image 56, you now have a much smaller number of images to look at. Further, since this covers marriages from 1803 to 1825 and the one you want is in 1824, you'd do better to start at the end of Item 1, and work backwards.

Long-winded, I know, but does it help?

Best regards,
Sophia
