I am looking foe information on the Village of Chatzky or Chacki, governorate Wilno, district of Swieciany, municipality of Szemietowo. Caltholic parish of Szemietowo and Svir deanery. I believe the area was once part of Poland, later Lithuania and now belongs to Belarus. My grandfathers surname is Bakula

Hello Henryk! We have spoken before. I am only able to read English. My grandfathers brother Michal Bakula was married to your Aniela Wirszyllo. Are you familiar with the area? I would love to learn about it. Michal was only here in the US for a few years and went back with 2 of his brothers. I would love to learn what happened to them and if there are any Bakula's still around.

It is interesting that this far east all the village was Latin Catholic, and not Greek Catholic or Orthodox.
Some Bakuła were forcibly moved into USSR after the invasion in 1939:
http://www.indeksrepresjonowanych.pl/indeks
Third first name in a row is father's name followed by birth year:
Quote:
Bakuła Antoni Filip 1899 Aresztowani na Białorusi i Ukrainie 1939-1941
Bakuła Jan Antoni 1900 Aresztowani na Białorusi i Ukrainie 1939-1941
Bakuła Jan Andrzej 1904 Lista ukraińska
Bakuła Jan Antoni 1900 Białoruś 1939-41
Bakuła Roman Józef 1918 Internowani w Borowiczach
Bakuła Stanisław Franciszek 1912 Rozstrzelani w Katyniu

Probably most of the others were tranferred to Poland after 1944, when the border change was made permanrent.

They are probably included in the Bakuła on the 2002 surname list:
Total 1981, living in 106 cities and counties.
Top 10 places:
Quote:
1.county Ostrołęka (333) A
2.Mińsk Mazowiecki (274) near Warszawa
3.Warszawa (165)
4.Przasnysz (118) A
5.Szczytno (112) A
6.Mrągowo (93) near Warszawa
7.city Ostrołęka (91) A
8.Otwock (61) near Warszawa
9.Szczecinek (51) B
10.Maków Mazowiecki (45)

A= area northeast of Warszawa
B= Area in New Territory of Poland, settled after 1945, Some likely from Belarus.

Hello! My name is Joanna or Joasia. My great grandfather was Michal Bakuła married to Aniela Wierszyło. I live in England but my Aunt (Ciocia Monika Dalkin ne Luksza ne Bakula) lives in Canada married to Donnek Dalkin whom I believe has a sister that married a Bernard Bakula brother that worked on a farm. Another brother was Micheal. I think Michal the father worked in a violin factory. Does this match your information? I’d love to hear from you.
