Hello - I am trying to research my grandmother, Maria Mroz - 1888- 1890, not sure of the birth year. I know she also lived on Ul. Lokietka in Krakow for a while, as I have a photo of her outside the house with the address and name. She married Jan Jarkiewicz and left for the U.S. in 1914, settling in Cleveland. I have had great progress with Jan Jarkiewicz (from Sokolina) but can find nothing in Polish records to help me.

Her father's name is Jan Mroz. Mother's first name Maria, I think. She had a few half sisters, Sophia, Josephine and Magdalena (who remained in Poland) There was a brother who died in WWI.

Any ideas, I thank you. Melanie

Try contacting these other researchers of Miechocin Parish:
http://parafie.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=pr&pid=8731

Also a message on the forum on the Archives of Sandomierz ArchDiecese:

Also I am curious about Jan Jarkiewicz from Sokolina. I have a Jan Jarkiewicz, born about 1902, married to Maria Mróz, born about 1902, parents Wincenty and Tetla, all from Sokolina Parish. Who were the parents and siblings of your Jarkiewicz?

Thank you for these links!

My Jan's parents were Franciszek Jarkiewicz and Marianna Gajda. Their children included Franciszka, Katarzyna, Jan, Wiktoria, Stanislaw, Kacper and perhaps a second Katarzyna. Jan's father was Tomasz, married to Marianna Makselan (or Makselon or Maxelan) Is there a connection? I think I remember a Jan from 1902 in the files.

I have a few family photos from Sokolina if you would like to see if there is anyone who might be recognizable.
Melanie

I was on this forum a few years ago but it was not recognizing my username so I created a new one. Is there a way to combine them? Thank you, Melanie

Melanie,

Do you remember your previous username? Do you want to transfer any information from your previous profile to the new one?

Melanie, I have gone back to our communications of August 2012. Still no definitive information to show a connection.

Did you read the email with the names of my great-grandparents above?

My information starts with Jan Jarkiewicz and spouse Maria Mróz, and their descendants. I do not have information on his ancesters, but do on Maria's ancesters. It is clear my Jan and Maria Mróz are not yours. But I have no other information to make a connection.
My information was supplied by Maria'a niece, my second cousin.

I see. Yes, I know that are different but it seems as if that whole group is related. Have you checked them on Geneteka? Some of the last names are spelled Jarkowicz but that is not correct. I will look around.
