Post subject: West Prussia
After two years of following this Forum, I have never seen a post concerning West Prussia. This troubles me as at one time there was no Poland, as Poland had been partitioned to Prussia, Russia, and Austria. I have traced my German speaking ancestors back to 1795 and all four generations lived in Nowa Cerkiew, Kreise Konitz, W.P., formerly and presently a town near Chojnice, Poland. My ancestors surnames are Rostowski and Pestka. According to recent census, many Rostowski and Pestka live in today's Poland. I have successfully contacted Pestka relatives but not a single Rostowski relative. I am interested in obtaining records of my Rostowski relatives prior to 1795.

Post subject: West Prussia relations
Hello,
I know this post is pretty old, but I was searching about these towns. My ancestors came from Chojnice (Konitz), Waldowo (Waldau), Komerowo (Wallbusch), Raciaz (Reetz), etc.. all basically from modern day south Pomerania and north Kujawsko Pomorska.. I have traced their lines back to the 1300s that descend from some type of nobility in that area. However there are some sides I cant get anywhere on.
The surnames I have in my ancestors from that area are: Kirstein, Grabowski, Pupel, Mydlach, Zietkowski, Schultz, Rhode, etc..
My email is [email protected] if you have any questions!
