Hello,

I'm hoping to receive guidance regarding locating documentation for the marriage record of my grandparents. My grandmother's name was Genia Czapkiewicz and my grandfather's name was Isak Nowogrodski. They were married on March 10, 1945 in Lodz, before they left Poland and arrived at a displaced persons camp in Munich, Germany, where my uncle Sol (Schloma) was born and they remained until 1948, when they immigrated to the United States of America.

For more detailed information, my grandmother, Genia Czapkiewicz, was born May 7, 1925 in Iweiewicz, Poland [alternate spellings include (Iwieneic, Wolozyn, Nowogrodek, Poland) and Ivenets]. Genia's father's name was Shloma (alternate spellings include Schloma) Czapkiewicz. Genia's mother's name was Hannah (alternate spellings include Chanah) Kumok (alternate spellings include Cumoc). Genia had one sister, whose name was Beile (alternate spellings include Bela).

My grandfather, Isak Nowogrodski [alternate spellings of Nowogrodski include Novogrodsky and Novogrudski], (Nowogrodski later became Nowog upon immigrating to the United States) was born July 3, 1912 in Dworzec, Nowogrodek, Poland (alternate spellings include Dvorets).

I am trying to locate any Polish source documentation that would establish my grandparents' identity as Polish citizens. This type of documentation is necessary for me to apply for Polish citizenship, which is another goal of mine. From what I've been advised, the marriage certificate may be my best hope of finding original source documentation from the Polish government. However, from what I understand, since the marriage date was in 1945, this means it is less than 100 years old, so it is still kept at the local Civil Registry Office in the town where the marriage occurred (in this case, it would be Lodz).

I have collected various documentation from Ancestry, JewishGen, Arolsen Archives, and the Shoah Foundation, but none include source documentation from the Polish government.

I appreciate any and all help that can be provided. I am very eager to locate all documentation that could be used to verify my grandmother's Polish citizenship.

Thank you very much!
Jesse
