Międzyczerwienne, (name changed to Czerwienne in 1965) is a village in the Provience (Voivodeship) Lesser Poland, in the District of Nowy Targ, in the Community of Czarny Dunajec.

Founded around 1630 years, until the 1960’s it was still called Międzyczerwienne [name changed to Czerwienne in 1965]. Many times, in the 1960’s and 1970’s, came here to relax, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski and the then Archbishop of Krakow, Karol Wojtyla Pope John Paul II. At Peak Budz a cross commemorats the place where they buried the confederates.
Through Czerwienne - Bachledówkę are leading tourist routes: from Chocholow, Czarny Dunajec, Ciche and Szaflary to Zakopane (Ząb and Gubałówkę). There is something for everyone - for avid hikers attractive trails, for lovers of history, musing over the graves of the confederates on the Peak Budz, for ethnographers performances from the regional teams "Bachledówka" and "Honielnik." The area villages is 10.8 km2.

In the end, agreed neighboring parish priest Miętustwo, because Bachledówka is almost on the border of the two villages. Cardinal Franciszek Macharski in August 1991.

I have left messages on other threads, but they got lost in in the scramble! I have been desperately looking for my great grandmothers parents and family. My GG Antonia Strama was born 15 Oct 1886, and I assume in Miedzyczerwienne, because the ships manifest at Ellis Island list this as her last residence. She also has siblings Anna Barbara (1881), Jan (1882) and Tekla (1877) who all left from this village, and destination on ships manifest was Anna Barbara's home in Passaic, NJ. That's about all the info. I have on her. I found that, after she came here, she either gave false information to census takers, or used her sister Tekla's name on a land deed AND her marriage license when she remarried (after my GGrandfather was killed in a mining accident). Why she would do that, I don't know. She never went by her given name, Antonia, but used the nickname of Attie (which made searching ever tougher!)
Thanks you so much for the info on Miedzyczerwienne. I had a feeling it didn't exist anymore and was probably consolidated into a larger village. I would love to go there and try and track down any relatives.

Hi,
It appears I am a little late to this thread but I recently found out that my ancestors are from Miedzyczerwienne. Using Geneteka.com I was able to track down my family. It was originally thought they were from Nowe Bystre (and it is possible they were back another generation or two on the Staszel line), but Marek Staszel and Zofia Miskowiec raised their family in Miedzyczerwienne (Zofia's hometown). My great grandfather and his siblings were born there. Anyone who has additional information, I'd love to connect.

My family attended both the parish in Czarny Dunajec and then in Nowe Bystre once it was established. I believe Czarny Dunajec should be your first stop.
