Hi everyone,

My name is Payton Hejza, and I am currently a college student studying abroad in Prague. I recently became really interested in learning more about my family history, and I know that my last name, Hejza, has Polish roots.

I don’t have a lot of detailed information, but I am hoping to learn more about where my family may have come from and if I might still have relatives in Poland today. While I am abroad, I am planning to visit Poland and would love to possibly explore areas connected to my family history.

If anyone has come across the surname Hejza, has information about its origin, or has any advice on how to research Polish ancestry, I would really appreciate your help. I’m just getting started with this process, so any guidance or suggestions would mean a lot!

Thank you so much!

Hi,
Welcome to the forum! It’s a bit difficult to help when you don’t provide more information. Last names Hejza can have several variations. See this link.

Hi Payton and Barb,

It may be interesting for you to read an old conversation here on the forum, regarding one person's search for Hejza ancestors. He received quite a bit of help at the time. The thread even includes some very nice family photos.

As Barb said, there are multiple spellings for Hejza and it does help to keep an open mind when doing your search. In the link Barb provided, I am seeing: Heiza, Chayza, Chejza, Hejze and Hejza among others.

Best of luck in your search,
Sophia
