Hi. I'd greatly appreciate a translation of the record for Anna Skonieczna's birth. I'm hoping it could be the birth record of my great-great grandmother, although it's unclear -- perhaps some more information from the record would reveal something helpful. Thank you!

Hello!
Could I have some help translating this record please? A friend found this and shared it with me. I believe it is the death record for the father of my ancestor Simonas Krutulis. The picture I tried to upload was too large, if the picture is illegible, please let me know. Thank you! Smile

Thank you so much, Barb! This is so exciting! It looks like Szymon might've gone back to Lithuania for at least a little bit, but definitely came back as he died in the US in 1920 himself. My friend was saying that Stanislaw was described as a landowner in this record (хозяина) and that it could possibly refer to a cottage owned by the family. When Stanislaw, the brother of Szymon, died he was listed as a farmer in the Metrikai record. Does anyone possibly know more about the historical context for being a landowner and farmer in this time period? I have tried investigating some things, but they are generally on a much broader scope, especially with German Empire starting to occupy Lithuania in 1915
Thank you again for the translation, Barb! I hope you are well Smile

Correct what your friend said. It is written:
хозяины деревни Jackany - village owner / landowner.

Here is the translation. Barbra's translation had few shortcomings.
First of all, the witnesses are not landowners but farmers. Moreover, the wife's maiden name is different.

Nr 21
Jackany
Stanisław Krutulis

It happened in the village of Udria, on March 19th/April 1st, 1910, at 10 a.m.
Appeared J... [name hidden in the fold of the book], 33 years old and Szymon Krutulis, 50 years old, farmers from the village of Jackany and they declared that yesterday, at 3 a.m., died in the village of Jackany: Stanisław Krutulis, 75 years old, a farmer's father, who was born and lived in the aforementioned village, a son of Jakub and his wife, Rozalia nee Żwirblis. He was survived by his wife, Dominika nee Bolkiewicz [eventually: Balkiewicz].
After convinced myself about the death of Stanisław Krutulis this act was read and signed by Us. The witnesses were illiterate.

Priest F. ??Krówiak??, serving as Civil Registrar.

Thanks so much for the translation Marcel!

I will happily donate in appreciation for your work after I post a couple more for translation - that way I can just submit one transaction for all of them.

All the best,
Cynthia
