Good afternoon:

I am trying to locate and get a copy of my Great-Grandfathers Birth Certificate / Baptismal Form and anything else you might be able to provide to confirm my Polish citizenship.

Great Grandfather: Stanislaw (Stanley) Tolkin

Birthdate: 02/26/1888

Death: 03/01/1940

Baptism Place: Grudna Gorna 86, Grudna Gorna 39-232 Rzeszow, Poland on 01/21/1891

Welcome to the forum!
Grudna belongs to the Siedliska-Bogusz parish. The parish is indexed on Genetyka for the years 1713–1925, but I can not find your great-grandfather there.

I was told by Saint Stanislaus Church in New York who has other family records that he was baptized in a parish in Grudna Gorna 86 32-232 Grudna Dolna, Poland. (Rzeszow) - I see Grudna Gorna on his Petition for Naturalization paperwork.

Hi Trish,

While this ship manifest matches this Declaration of Intent, neither are for the correct Stanislaw Tolkin. This fellow is from Grodno, rather distant from the Rzeszow area.

Hi everyone,
In Stanislaw's Declaration of Intent, his birthplace is listed as Gevanowic.
Hypothesizing: If this refers to the former Giwanowicze / Iwanowicze, which later became known as Ivanovtsy, the location is situated abt. 25 km southwest of Grodno.

Sophia, could you check Stanislaw's last permanent residence from Manifest? I read it as Iwanowce. Iwanowce belongs to Odelsk parish, and Odelsk is located 10 km from Indura. This would strengthen the theory from my previous post.
In field 29, his place of birth is also mentioned, which is the same as his last place of residence.

It makes absolutely no sense to me that St. Stanislaus church has Grudna Gorna listed as Stanislaw's place of baptism. Is there any possibility that Grudna Gorna is where Stanislaw's wife was from, instead? There is no connection between Grodno and Grudna Gorna. Chris, can they provide you an image of the record where they are reading this from?

Iwanowce in the Kuźnica parish is the right place. I am attaching a list of children baptized in Kuźnica between 1889 and 1893. Birthplace of Stanislaw born in 1890 is Iwanowce.
Chris, do you know the names of Stanislaw's parents? Maybe you know the names of his siblings?
