Post subject: Church records for Pickeilnick
Trying to locate the family relatives Serwinski in Pickleilnick. How can I find church records to show baptisms, that would show parents names and marriages and deaths. Any help appreciated.
Thanks you

Hi,
The place name as spelled is not a possible Polish spelling. If the family was from the Austrian Partition (Galicia) prior to WWI, a possible place which comes to mind is Piekielnik, which is in gmina Czarny Dunajec in what was Austrian Poland. If any of this makes sense to you, Piekielnik was and is a parish. Unfortunately, the Polish National Archives only list holdings of death records for the last years of the 19th Century and the first few years of the 20th Century. If this is the place, it would probably be necessary to contact the parish directly. Perhaps someone who has researched family from that area could provide you with additional advice.
Wishing you success,
Dave

Thank you for your response..yes I spelled the village incorrectly!! Piekielnik is correct. Unfortunately only myself and my sister in law are researching. We have seen Austria Poalnd on several family documents on ancestry.com.

Post subject: Surnames from Piekielnik: Pekelniki, Fimdalek and Polacki
Trying to find information on my Grandfather's family from Piekielnik. My grandfather was Jan Gabriel Pekelniki or Piekielniki born July 1892 to Gabriel Pekelniki and Maria Fimdalek. Gabriel was born about 1865 to Joseph Pekelniki and Anna Polacki. My grandfather and his younger sister Maria were brought to the U.S. in September 1909 by their father Gabriel. They were left with a family friend in Irwin, Pa. and to the best of my knowledge their father returned to Piekielnik.

I am quite certain that this is the headstone of my paternal great grandmother. I have a book of ancestry information and the dates on the headstone match the information in my book. My great grandfather's name was John Buron. Based on the information that I have, he was born in 1860 and died in 1930. My grandmother was Anna Buron. She and two of her sisters, Mary and Katherine, were the only two children who came to the U.S. I have copies of typewritten information about the family from my grandmother's brother, Joseph Buron, who died in 1976 in Lipnicy Malej. He was a priest.
My grandparents were Ignace Balcirak and Anna Buron. Ignace came to America at the age of 12 and because he was so young, he traveled with another family from Piekielnik by the name of Krol so he might have been registered in the books under the name Krol rather than Balcirak. His parents were Ignace Balcirak and Maryia (Dzubek) Balcirak.

I've posted an image of the Florek stone from the Piekielnik cemetery. I don't know if there are other Florek stones there, I was only in the Piekielnik cemetery for a short time and took photos of old-old stones, interesting shaped stones, and several stones that had photos. I like to take images of stones with photos on them, especially the ones where the photo is starting to deteriorate. These photos may be the only image that someone might ever get to see of their ancestor, so I feel strongly about preserving these images when I find myself in a cemetery.

The following photos are from a side visit to Piekielnik during my Polish Origins tour in 2009. I hope these images help someone locate family. Kind regards from Georgia! Shellie
