I have just received a letter from my wife's cousin in Poland.

It is written in English but I suspect that a translation tool of some sort was used. In the letter she refers to her two daughters as 'feme covert'.

Can anyone tell me what this might mean in relation to this ladies two daughters? Given the context of the letter could it mean unmarried mother?

TIA
