Post subject: origin of the name Barwina
I am interested in the name Barwina as it does not soud Polish my fathers family came from Poland . would like to know how the name originated as it is a rare family name
Barwina may derive from Polish barwa- color or barwinek- myrtle, the periwinkle.
In 2002 there were only 61 people bearing the surname Barwina living in Poland. The most of them can be found in Tuchola and Sępólno Krajeńskie counties. Detailed map can be found here: https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Barwina .
