Hello ,
I am looking for information about my great grandmother Anastasia Drozd born November 29, 1920 in Sichow.
She arrived in France in 1940, her family remained in Poland.
According to my grandmother (her daughter) she had at least one brother and one sister.
Thank you
(I am French and use a translator)

Hello!

I found a death record for Anastasia on ancestry: https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/15175828:62201?tid=&pid=&queryId=0d5d0ce072f683287c48d08b03d50a7f&_phsrc=TiJ3744&_phstart=successSource

Also, is Drozd her maiden name? I can try to help you further I would just need some for information. Who did she marry? What information/records do you already have? Do you know the names of her siblings?

Hello, it's her on the death certificate, she was never married so Drozd is her maiden name. Unfortunately, I don't have the first names of her brothers and sisters...
I was able to obtain the death certificate, it is written there that his parents were called Philippe DROZD and irène BIHUM.
On other forums some tell me that the name Bihum sounds Ukrainian and that it is likely that she was born in Sichow near Lvil which was Polish in 1920 but is now part of Ukraine.
I am also waiting for the copy of his naturalization file, which I requested last week. Thank you for any help you could give me.

Unfortunately no...
According to my grandmother (her daughter), her family was very religious.
I had the chance to know my great-grandmother until the age of 22 and when I asked her to tell me about memories of Poland or if she could teach me Polish words she told me that she no longer remembered, I think the memories were too painful, I never insisted

hm... well that could make things difficult. I did however find the city of Sichow and the Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic churches that belonged to it: https://www.kami.net.pl/kresy/

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS!

1. click on "wojewodztwo lwowskie" (the page is in polish)
2. than select "Powiat Lwowski"
3. than select "Gmina Dawidow"
4. Finally select "Wies Sichow"
5. The page will now show you where the city is located on an old map, and will show you the Roman Catholic Parishes and Greek Catholic Parishes.

This tool is called "Eastern Borderlands" what it does is allow you to search up the name of the city and when you find it, you also find the churches that the city belonged to.

Thank you, I don't want to ask too much but what should I do with it? I don't know what to do with your information and I confess that I have no idea how to do research in Poland

Oh don't worry it is not too much to ask! At this point, you may want to research the church and maybe try to send a letter or e-mail to it. I will get back to you when I find more information on it.

I realize now that this task could be difficult if I do not know what type of church I am researching, (Catholic, Lutheran, etc.) I know you said that you do not know what religion your great-grandmother practised, but is there anyone you can contact who could possibly know? Or even better, what religion did your grandmother practice?

She's 80 years old, she never knew her father and she lost all her brothers and sisters... we started discussing her mother's origins because of the news at the moment, it reminded her of when his mother told him that she had come to France in 1940 to flee the war, leaving her family in poland. I react immediately by telling her that she surely has family there, from there she said to me "but you with the internet, couldn't you find them?"
I promised him that I would try...

I thank you very much, I will tell her this Sunday that someone helps me, she will be happy.
It was she who had already helped me when I told her that it was difficult because there were several Sichow in Poland in 1920, she told me it was the one near the Ukraine, I have guess it was the one who is in ukraine now
