Welcome to the Forum cokie,

There no people in Poland bearing surnames Ingut or Inglut. There are almost 1900 using surname Inglot

Inglot is in the group of surnames originating from the German name Ingel, or from the Ing "a member of the Ingewean tribe"

In 2002 there were 1874 people using the surname Inglot living in Poland. Detailed map of the surname distribution can be found here https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Inglot . As you can see they are concentrated in the south east part of Poland, former Austrian partition (Galicia).

Thanks for the information. My husband's family did come from that area of Poland in the early 1900's. The origin of the name is new information that we had never heard before.

Inglot means "strong angel". Other countries have variations of this as in Engelhardt in German and Iglesi in Italian, etc.
