We have reason to believe that one of our ancestors came to the USA from the area around Sliwice. When doing a search on Poznan Marriage project it seems that Sliwice is beyond the coverage area of the Poznan Marriage Project.
My question is A) Is this the case that "Sliwice is beyond the coverage area of the Poznan Marriage Project"?
B) Do you know of another site to search for marriages in the Sliwice area?

Thank you for any info.

Hi MG,

I believe that it is beyond the scope of the Poznan Project. The area was not part of the Prov. of Posen/Poznan during the 19th Century. Geneteka does index marriages from Śliwice. Cf. attachment.

Wishing you success,

Dave

Mick and Dave,

Sliwice, as well as some other places near the border wielkopolski/kujawsko-pomorskie are covered by www.genealogiawarchiwach.pl

Gilberto,

I have ancestors from the areas covered by www.genealogiawarchiwach.pl and have spent a few hours looking over the site and some records. A very interesting resource - Thank You.

One question - I tried to register for the site and received an email with a link to confirm my email address. So far, all attempts have 'timed out' and I have not been able to login to the site. I can still look over records and search. What are the benefits of being a registered guest on the site? Any suggestions about the inability to get registered?

Thank you again,

Gary D.

Gary,

When they launched that site I registered because I wanted to be a volunteer to transcribe indexes. Some time later they answered that there were no records to indexed. Nuts! I also keep using the site and forgot about the registration issue.

Gilberto,

Thank you for the quick reply. I thought perhaps I was doing something incorrectly. I had also thought about volunteering.
