Post subject: A similar Polish Surname or Spelling? Swendroski
Hello,
One of my ancestors was illiterate and I'm having trouble finding passenger and immigration information on him to find where he was from in Europe. I was wondering if anyone knows of a Polish surname that sounds similar to this ones.
The spelling of the surname that I know is Swendroski. In various documents I've seen it spelled Swydraski, Swanduski, Swendroski, Swenroski, Swendeoski, Swendroshi, Swyndroski, and Swiendroski.
Other information if it helps in anyway
My ancestors name was Joseph Konstanty Swendroski. He was born about 1882 and his place of birth is listed as Poland, Poland Russia, and Russia on documents between 1910-1940. I believe he had an older brother named John and a young brother Bolieslaw who also moved to the U.S.. His kids were named Creighton, Roman/Raymond, Tekla, Edward, and Frank. His brother Bolieslaw's kids were named Josephine, Frank (Franklin), Edward, Joe, and Johnny in case these names fit a certain region or a naming tradition of a region.

Erinengel,
Swendrowski seems the most probable for my polish ear. In 2002 there were 198 people bearing this surname living in Poland. Have a look at the distribution map: https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Swendrowski .
It might be also Szwendrowski/Szwendrowska (12 people living in Poland in 2002).
Maybe you could post some documents where this surname appears, so that we could have a look and try to identify it.
