I've hit a road block and tips on where to find this information would be appreciated. I'm trying to find the relatives of Wladyslaw Kasztelan and Bronislawa Szymanski. Here's what I know:

Wladyslaw (Walter) Kasztelan.  Born: 1 Jan 1882 in Prawno/Lublin.

Had a sister named Rozada (Rose); Born:abt 1889. Immigrated to US (New York) September 1913 with husband John (Jan?) Pawelczyk

Wladyslaw and Rozada's parents were named Frank and Mary ( Maiden name possibly Piatek?)

Possible name change because family was sent to Siberia, family was allowed to leave when Wladyslaw was 14 (1896?) under the condition that they change their name.

Married Bronislawa Szymanski (B: 1887- Prawno, Luberlskie Poland) in Poland.  Bronslawa's father's name Jan Szymanski.  Mother's maiden name: Zawoł

Had 5 children- 3 in Poland- 2 in Chicago. Two of the children born in Poland passed away in childhood or were stillborn. Children: Czeslaw (Chester- born in Poland/Russia)1907 or 1909; Edward (1914) and Helena (Helen)- 1917 or 1919.

Wladyslaw immigrated to US around 1910 via Canada- no records obtained thus far.

Bronislawa and her son, Czeslaw, arrived in New York with her brother Emil Szymanski in November 1912 per ship's manifest. Moved to Chicago and then later to Detroit.

Bernice passed away: 8 January 1967 in Ohio- Walter passed away: 10 Mar 1967- Detroit, Michigan

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Conniecabe,

So the surname variation story is correct ...sort of... looks like it was Pasztelan and on Władysław’s birth certificate it was even spelt Pajtelin !
Władysław Pasztelan/Pajtelin – born 1882 record #1 in the village of Zadole (?), parish of Kluczkowice

You will need to post this link to the Russian translation forum on this website to get it translated. Will tell you the exact date of birth and age of parents.

Father & Mother: Franciszek Pasztelan and Marianna Piątek – married 1881 in Rybitny, record #7

You will need to post this link to the Russian translation forum on this website to get it translated. With a bit of luck this marriage record will tell you their age, where they were born, where they were residing at the time of marriage, his occupation, and their parents’ names.

Some other children of Franciszek and Marianna
Sabina Pasztelan – born 25 June 1884, record #9 in the village of Wandalin parish of Boby – parents Franciszek and Marianna Piątek

You will need to post this link to the Russian translation forum on this website to get it translated. Will tell you the exact date of birth and how old the parents were.

Father and Mother: Jan Szymański and Agnieszka Zawół

Agnieszka died in Prawno on 23 June 1943 record #37 aged 97. The death record states that she was born in Grębów (just to the west of Stalowa Wola in woj. podkarpackie) – her father was Tomasz , mother was Marianna Grunk (?). Her husband Jan, predeceased her.

Unfortunately the online records for Prawno finish in 1904 (I would speculate that the marriage of Władysław Pasztelan and Bronisława Szymańska was in 1905/1906). There are also 2 years of additional records online for 1910 and 1911.

Hope that helps 
Tom
