I wonder how different it is from the Polish version.
Probably should be close enough for most gorale to understand. |
Ewa Farna born in Cieszyn which is in part on the Polish side of the border and in part on the Czech part, speaks fluently both Polish and Czech. In this song she sings the purest Polish, even without Gorale accent. And the vocalist with guitar also sings Polish with Czech accent .

As someone who doesn't speak Polish or the Gorale Dialect--but who's paternal grandparents hail from Podhale--(Waksmund/Nowy Targ), I surely can recognize the Gorale spirit. In fact, the first time I heard the "traditional" rendition of Hey Gorale!, I found it very moving (tears welled up, even though I didn't understand the words; but I did recognize its bittersweet emotional sentiment). In hearing this splendid new version, I find that it captures the core 'high spirits' of the Highlander-- heartfelt ardor, fierce stamina, strength, zest, an inherent fire, plus a twinkle in the eye... Great performance!
