Hello-
My maternal Grandfather, Stanislaus Szostek, was born in Gromiec, Cheranon, Poland in 1884. Does anyone know where the Catholic Church may have been at this time period? I'd hoped to order the microfilm from the LDS but nothing shows up for this town.

I know Stanley's parents were Wawezyniec and Maria Bronislawa Szostek. He was one of six children which included Frank, Piotr (Peter), Maria, Jan and Ewa. Maria married Wojciech Piwowarczyk in Poland.

Help in finding where to reasearch would be wondreful! Thank you!
Kathie

Kathie,

You should also try to search Oświęcim parish records where Gromiec belonged in 1800s.

Thank you! I tried Bobrek but the parish records began later than I needed. I just tried Oświęcim for the Family History Library microfilms but the dates seem to be prior to 1950. Did Oświęcim have a different name in the later 1800's? I'm not yet familiar with the area since most of my reseach to date has been in the Poznan area.

Thank you again for your help! Happy New Year!
Kathie
