Post subject: Info for surname Rajecki
Hi! I come from a long line of Michael Rajecki names... My great-grandfather traveled to the US in 1914 and was born in 1890 in a town called Starlygi, Poland which is in present-day Belarus near S'vir Lake. That is as far as I have been able to positively trace back, and I was wondering if anyone had any more information beyond that. I don't know what the name means, but I think the name might trace back to a noble family named Rajec from the Radom district. _________________ -E. Rajecki
Rajecki is a toponym coming from the village Rajec in Mazovia region (near Radom). To my Polish ear it might be also associated with the word rajca: "member of a town council".
In 2002 there were 164 individuals using the surname Rajecki living in Poland. Detailed map of the surname distribution can be found here: https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Rajecki .
In the old Poland there was a noble family of Rajecki, coat of arms Łabędź (swan) from Rajec in 1428.
