I have some information from a distant relative that says the Delet-Kanic name originated with the court of Francis Stephen of Lorraine and Maria Teresa of Habsburg. Francis had a brother named Joseph who acted as secretary and signed documents "De Lettre Koenig."

The name supposedly appears in 1772 Galician court records as Delet Koenich, and in 1801 as Delet-Kanich.

The farthest back I can find is Fedor Delet-Kanich, who was born around 1800 and worked as a flour miller for the Duke.

Does anyone have any advice on where I should look next?
