Hello friends,

Some time ago I had two baptism records translated from Russian and they both mentioned a village named Iwanowszczyzna (according to the translator. It says in the record that this village was part of the parish or Mejszagola (where the two baptisms were performed)

When I looked at WIG maps of the Mejszagola area I did not find this place and when a searched for it by name it came up with a place well outside the bounds of Mejszagola parish. Does anyone have any idea how I might find this village? Or is it likely that this place is the same and for some strange reason the baptisms were done this distance away??

After looking none are particularly close to Mejszagola......this is very interesting indeed.

There was zaścianek called Iwanowszczyzna in Mejszagoła parish. Try very detailed map created just after 1888

Zaścianek is not entirely a village. It could be just part of village or even a one property outside other village.

The suffix -szczyzna in Polish indicate that the property belonged to original owner or foundator called Iwan or Iwanowski or so.
