Post subject: PAWLIKOWKA and LAKA villages (Rszezow--historical)
http://www.orbikfamily.com/rzasa/Palikowka-History.htm
Hello,
In my search online for geneolgy information, I came across this very rich and informative article about the villages of Laka & Pawlikowka (about 6-7 miles N/E of Rzsezow):
The article descriptively discusses very early records, surnames of landowners, settlers, village life, etc. of people in this (and surrounding villages), which I gather included my maternal grandfather's (Tomasz Kopec) village of Malawa (only about 2-3 miles from Laka/Pawlikowka). In fact, I found many Kopecs listed in old village registrars of Pawlikowka!
Anyway, I put it on this Rzsezow topic forum as it is so generally descriptive of village life in that area in general (note how the nearby village of Laka was compared to the then, village of Rzsezow as "on par" but then laments how far ahead Rzsezow grew, leaving Laka-- and other villages behind)! So, without further ado, here is the link:

P.S. I have an older version of this same article by the same author (which is basically all the same information, but less modernly edited and thus more quaint and colorful --ex. instead of using metric conversion, it talks hectares, instead of serves, it states the medieval-sounding 'serfs'). Unfortunately the link to this no longer works, but I have the article in print online. If anyone is interested, I can send it directly to your email; it's such a long article, I hesitated to put it on the forum, but I guess I can do so to, if anyone is interested in comparison of these two article versions.
