Joel, Roczyna is near Krakow (sw). Pronounced row-cheen-a. I think the draftboard man tried his best to interpret it but failed miserably. (Roczyny is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Andrychów, within Wadowice County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) south-west of Andrychów, 14 km (9 mi) west of Wadowice, and 51 km (32 mi) south-west of the regional capital Kraków. The village has a population of 3,728. (This town would be in old Galicia)

Thanks, and its near Krakow? That's where my great grandmother, his wife, was born.
Now I need to figure out how to see if I can find old documents from Poland. ... I think it'd be easier to hire somebody. lol

I just want to make sure you are sure.
The place you had on the map I found to be also said as "Roczyny", which is in southwest Poland ... But I found a place called "Raczyna" that is in southeast Poland. Is Raczyna not in Galicia?

Can you scan this towns name from the actual document? It just doesn't look right to me.

My location is within 35 miles of SE of Krakow. This is in SE Poland, however it was in Galicia until 1918. Do you need some help with some maps/history to understand it better?

I hate these- the clerk of the court sometimes makes up what they think is the correct spelling of the Polish town. (Many immigrants could not read or write so they could not assist with the spelling) Do you have any idea of the location? Would it be near the area of the other towns you named? All I can do is guess at a town nearby that might sound like this.

Andrychów is 2 miles from Roczyny- what do you think? Could it be Andry-chów instead of Maryanski-chori?

Hmmm ... Not sure ... Do they sound close to you when they are said? I'm not good with pronouncing polish cities/towns. Heck, sometimes I wonder if I am saying my last name right! lol
