Hi Deidre,

I searched for the exact orthography Krusczyn, but it does not exist in the old geography book http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/

The Polish orthography should be Kruszyn or maybe Kruszczyn.

Kruszyn does exist, even many of them.

http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_IV/733
There is a lot of names in German (everything with niem. in brackets).
Kruschin - see Kruszyn, Krusin, Kruszyny, Krzeszna
Krusin - see Kruszyn, Krzeszna

http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_IV/741
Four possibilities (which are in two spots, 1-2-3 and 4)
Kruszyn:
1) powiat brodnicki, close to Jablonowo
Kruszyny, Brodnica County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland
Jabłonowo Pomorskie, Poland

2) http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kruszyny-Rumunki
see also Kruszyny, Kruszyny Szlacheckie

3) Chelmno area, parish Lisewo
http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parafia_Podwy%C5%BCszenia_Krzy%C5%BCa_%C5%9Awi%C4%99tego_w_Lisewie
near new railway under construction (in circa 1900) going from Malbork to Torun throu Kruszewo

4) according to monastery in Kartuzy the name is Krusin, according to author Ketrzynski the name is Krzeszna
see Kartuzy
http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_IV/787
powiat kartuski, lake Ostrzyckie, parish Gorecin, school and postoffice in Szymbark
The page http://www.pgsa.org/Kashub/kaszuby.php says Gorecin (Kielpino)

On today google maps I could find those old two Kruszyn (in fact Kruszyny and Krzeszna), in two distant by more than 200 km areas. The first is in Kaszuby area (item F below), West of Gdansk; the second (item B) is South of Jablonowo Pomorskie. Both were part to Prussia according to that map from 1890 http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Preussen_Karte.jpg

A. Jabłonowo Pomorskie, Poland
B. Kruszyny, Brodnica County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland
C. Lisewo, Chełmno County, Poland
D. Kartuzy, Poland
E. Szymbark, Poland
F. Krzeszna, Poland
G. Kielpino k Kartuz, Mezowo, Poland

Best,
Elzbieta

Thank you for all your work ! There are quite a few KRUCZYN'S ! I'll have to look at them. All I know is that my relatives were Polish, but the German part in Prussia. I wish I knew more about them, but my grandparents never talked too much about the old country.
I have one last great uncle who may know something.

Deidre,

There are 77 exact matches for the Braciszewkis in Project Poznan. None of them, however, mentions Kruszyn.
