Hi Phil,

First: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slonim
today in Belarus, Polish name Słonim
http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C5%82onim

http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powiat_s%C5%82onimski with a list of cities

Second: That old book is your friend:
http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/
Słownik geograficzny Królestwa Polskiego i innych krajów słowiańskich. Piętnaście tomów.
Geographical Dictionary of Polish Kingdom and other Slavic countries. Fifteen volumes. Warszawa : nakł. Filipa Sulimierskiego i Władysława Walewskiego, 1880-1914

Słonim starts page 823 (several pages), on page 826
http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_X/826
it states there was 1035 settlements in powiat Słonim: 16 small cities, 534 villages with less than 25 inhabitants, 355 with 25-100 inhabitants, 141 with 101-500, 5 with 501-1000.
Many villages are listed (but definitely not all thousand settlements).

Third and important source:
http://www.radzima.net/pl/wojewodztwo/nowogrodzkie.html
For each gmina listed in http://www.radzima.net/pl/powiat/slonim.html
you can click and get a list of villages

Best,
Elzbieta

Gilberto,
Thanks for your response. I should have been more specific and said Slonim in Grodno province and that is now in Belarus.

Elzbieta,
Thanks for the info. I'll check out those links that you provided.

Phil
