Could these two names be variant spellings of the same name?

Thank you.

Hello cj,

No, Wesołowski and Węglikowski are two different surnames of distinct origins.

Wesołowski derives from Polish word wesoły, or (old-fashioned) wiesoły - "merry, cheerful".

Węglikowski derives from Polish word węgiel, or (old-fashioned) wągl - "coal, carbon".
