I am confused! My great great grandfather Andrzej Wawrzyniak (b 1816-18 in Wrząca) married either Konstancya Sławińska (b 1815 in Walgorzewie) OR Katarzyna Sławikowska (b 1815 in Wrzęca).

I have found a Marriage Certificate (1837 in Wojków) for Andrzej Wawrzyniak and Katarzyna Sławikowska but no records of any children.

I have also found Birth Certificates (from Wojków) for the children that Andrzej Wawrzyniak and Konstancya Sławińska had, but no Marriage Certificate. The children were:
b 1840 Maryanna (Marianna) Wawrzyniak
b 1845 Wojciech Wawrzyniak - my great grandfather
b 1850 Franciszek Wawrzyniak
b 1856 Marcjanna Wawrzyniak
b 1859 Stanislaw Wawrzyniak

It it be possible that Andrzej married both women (sisters?) or are they different couples entirely? I hope someone can help in this matter.

Stan,

I could not find the birth record for Andrzej, between 1816-1818.
1815 and 1819 have no index, so you have to look record by record here:
http://metryki.genealodzy.pl/metryki.php?op=sy&ar=3&zs=1730d

The 1837 marriage record says he was born in Korzenica (blaszki, sieradzki)

As to your question I had exactly the same case:
A Jan Magrowski married to a Franciszka Raclawska in Dobrzejewice but I could never find birth records for their children. On the other hand I had many birth records for a Jan Magrowski married to a Franciszka Lesinska, but not their marriage record. Both Franciszka had the same age.

It took me years to find out what had happened: After first marriage, Jan moved to a near village, where Franciszka died (all in the same year). Next year Jan married to the second Franciszka and then moved back to his village, where his children was born. Hope this will give you new options for your search.

Thank you for your help Gilberto. As I am very much an amateur, all the help I can get is very much appreciated. I will now try to explore the 1815 & 1819 years as you suggest.

Have a nice day
Stan

Stan,

Check the death records between 1837-1840 to see if you find a death record for Katarzyna Wawrzyniak (nee Slawikowska).

I can't find where Walgorzewie is.

Gilberto
