Hello Bob,
Thanks for the info on how to capture a screen image. I have often wanted to do this but never knew how. Very useful information.

Hi Bob
Thank you for checking this for me. I am glad you cleared that up about the towns and nationality. I am
starting to make sense of these details. Thanks for all your helpful tips too!
Thank goodness I love to read, (I will just have to give up sleep to get it all in!)

Linda,

I did some studying tonight on your data and I have indeed found your town!!! Your are definitely a "Goral" - yay! Polish Goral are Mountain Folk from Southern Poland. I have tons of information on them because I am one myself. They even speak a different dialect of Polish that regular Poles don't even understand. They are very famous even today as they still wear the old costume of the Polish Goral even in daily work in 2010. Welcome to our Goral family!

Nie ma za co,
Bill

PS- I have your email address so I will be sending you all the details. I need to make you a chart, map and add all the goodies in for you.

PSS- wait till you hear some góralska muzyka = goral music, you'll love it. LOL

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

(Since this post may be of interest to others I have copied my answer in ref. to Linda's search which I sent her via personal email) Bill

Linda, Today I looked again at your data as I haven't heard from Mateusz in Poland yet. I studied a map that I had of Galicia and looked for more clues on your manifest list. That Terval place name was driving me crazy so I concentrated on it. So I studied how this form taker wrote his letters on other lines. I then found he wrote the word "Polish" with the same letter as in "T"erval. So I changed that letter to Perval, Pevel, Pawel, etc. The person on the next line was going to Jelesina, Galicia. So I then knew from past experience that many people traveled together from same towns a lot of the time, and on your list I looked up that town. Bingo- I found it in Galicia, south west of Krakow. I also noticed another person further down on the list was from "your unk. town" and studied how he wrote this info also. But then I noticed a big difference in the spelling of the town name, and I came up with Pewel. The second letter is definitely an "E" and also the 4th one.

So I went back to a map and slowly zoomed in on Jelesnina, SE of Zywiec. Then as I zoomed in again I saw it, Pewel Mała, like in the other person's line. So I thought this is close enough that it has to be it. But when I went to Google and got another map I really got excited, I found PEWEL ŚLEMIEŃSKA just above Pewel Mała just as it is written on your form. (I had "slowieuska" in my last email to you). THIS IS IT, I"M POSITIVE! (The Ł in Mała has a line through it so it looks like a T, this is the Polish letter Ł)

It looks like a little mountain village. The biggest town to yours is Zywiec, which is very, very famous for their BEER! It is sold all around the world and doesn't taste to bad in my opinion. Google Zywiec and you will see how pretty and famous it is. You must go there someday. Bill

Thanks Bob,
I use to be police officer in Ohio for many years. Class of 74, taught by FBI agents at Kent State. I think that had a lot to do with my persistence. Plus I have this genealogy bug that I can't rid of for the last 30 years. <grin>

Great job Bill Exclamation Genealogy search has a lot to do with detective work, hasn't it Bill Smile Question

I attach three pictures from Żywiec square market which we visited on the last year's Forefathers Traces Tour with Shellie and Jerry. You can also read and see pictures on our Blog http://blog.polishorigins.com in 'Shellie's Tour to Ancestral Places' chapter: http://blog.polishorigins.com/2009/07/12/11-shellies-tour-to-ancestral-places-day1/ .

As you mentioned Bill, Żywiec is well-known in the whole Poland from tasty beer as well as Golec uOrkiestra band (more about the music group, including video clips: http://forum.polishorigins.com/viewtopic.php?t=269 ).

Below photos from Żywiec (click on the pictures to enlarge).

Hi Zenon,

Great pictures! Thanks for posting them here.
Checked out "Shellie's Tour" before as you recommended in a previous email.
Learned a lot! Her story was wonderful because she was able to meet live
relatives on her trip. She also had a lot of information for others as far as names go.
You are an "awesome tour guide" Zenon!
