Greetings !

I don't know if you can help me with this.
My ggrandparents ,Martin and Magdalena Lazewski Braciszewski lived in Dunkirk, NY on Martin St,
They had several children I knew about except for two. My great aunts,Cecelia and Wladyslawa. One born in 1906 and other in 1908. That was from the 1910 census, when they were 2 and 4. I can't find one in the 1920 and none in 1930. How do I find out where they went ? Died, married, moved.
No one seems to know and I'd like some tips where I can look. They went to St. Hyacinth's Church in Dunkirk.
When we were young,my grandfather never mentioned them.
Could you give me some tips on where I can look ? I would appreciate any help finding where they went.

Sincerely yours,
Marie (deidre)

Hello Marie,

From what I can tell in Ancestry.com, the Braciszewski family stayed in the same place even the same street. I found census information for 1910, 1930, and 1940. I found no further records for Cecelia or Wladyslawa, but I did find two additional children, Francis and Bernard. I searched find a grave and found 4 graves for your family, all but one in St Hyacinth cemetery. Cecilia and Wladyslawa were not part of the 4 I found.

IF I were you, I would contact the diocese for st. hyacinth and request marriage and death records for them. As a direct relative, you should be able to do that. You can also contact the vital records dept for the New York county they lived in and have them search for marriage and death records.

Hope this helps,
Cynthia

Here is the website for the Chautauqua County vital records office

http://chautauqua.ny.us/168/County-Clerk

The catholic archdiocese for Chautauqua is Buffalo. Here is contact info I found for the archives office. I think this is the archive of sacramental records. You will have to call or email to find out.

Archives – Sr. Jean Thompson, OSF. Office: 795 Main St., Buffalo 14203; 847-5567; FAX: 847-5557 Email: [email protected]
