Post subject: Golembiewski and Murawski Surnname
I am searching for any info on John Golembiewski. He is my great grandfather. Info that I do have:
Bartholomew Golembiewski (1839? - ?) married Hedwig Murawski (1825? - ?) They may have married 1857. Not sure of any of the dates. Their son John Golembiewski was born 3 June, 1859. He came to the United States 1890. I do know he lived in New York and in Norwich, Ct. He married Anna Szczepanski. I do not have any info on Anna. I would like to know if John had siblings in Poland. Any info on his parents also. I show that he was born in Warszawskiego, Poland. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply. The only info I have is son John being born in Warszawskiego. Is it near Swiezawy? Is Golebiewski/ska a common Polish name. I have mine and mom's dna on ancestry.com and 23andme. Also, Gedmatch.com and FTDNA.com. They show a lot of very distant relatives. None of the names I recognize. John was born June 3, 1859. I made an error in my original post. I will edit it and add the correct date. Thank you so much for replying. I feel like I will never find my Polish relatives.

Hi again.
Gołębiewski is a popular name. Since You mention Warszawskiego, i believe your ancestor may come from Mazovian or Warmińsko-Mazurskie.
It is very hard, just a lucky shot to find ancestor not knowing his town of origins. Do you have some piece of document containing place of birth or whence he came. Where you read Warszawskiego. Can you show us a document, even piece of that, some people here could decipher it.

I sent a cousin an email to ask where he saw the name of town Warszawskiego. I know he first added the town to Familysearch.org. All I have is a death certificate saying he was from Poland. Plus, name of 2nd wife. Don't know anything about 1st wife Anna Szczepanski. I have mom's DNA and mine on ancestry.com, 23andme, and FTDNA.com. Plus, DNA.land. I have mom's MtDNA on FTDNA also. Is anyone else with the same surnames on these sites? Golembiewski, Murawski, Szczepanski, Murawski, and Swarski. (I am not sure of the spelling of Swarski?) I did that from my grandfather's (Muzykowski) death certificate. My grandmother did say grandfather Muzykowski came from Troki.
Can I send a picture of John Golembiewski? How? 1930 census said John came to U.S. in 1890.
Thanks, Patti
